Biocides are active substances and preparations that control harmful micro-organisms. For decades, biocides have been used to control bacteria, viruses and fungi. However, due to their toxic effect and impact on humans and the environment, the use of toxic biocides is increasingly restricted. This presents a challenge for manufacturers of products containing biocides. New products are needed, especially in the context of Covid-19 and the emergence of MRSA bacteria.
